My review of beyonce’s homecoming

I was able to review Beyonce’s film, “Homecoming” for my student newspaper and discuss its impacts on me as a young black women and its cinematography, music and choreography.

Update on the fall 2020 semester

The university is constantly releasing new information about COVID-19, and what plans the university has to help with the spread of the disease. I have been spending the early part of the summer doing breaking news about this.

My Blog about music and journalism

I was able to take a course at the Poynter Institute with journalist Roy Peter Clark about writing tools and also was able to capture a moment at the intersection of music, journalism and friendship and write about a special moment.

Economic status of women in indiana

Indiana was given one of the worst scores for women in the country. My interest gave me the chance to learn what caused this low score and talk to the women trying to better the state.

Sigma nu suspension

I was able to break the story of hazing and misconduct by the fraternity Sigma Nu, which led to the fraternity’s suspension. This is the story that forced me to walk up to fraternity members and ask them about their experiences, speak to numerous sources and write a researched story about one of the most beloved fraternities on campus and its downfall.

Students respond to the repeal of daca

The second story I wrote in college and my first front page, above the fold piece. I had to sit in a room and listen to students’ stories of sadness and fear and learn about a topic I did not know and put in a context for my University to see and understand.
